I joined the School of Education at Strathclyde University, as Lecturer, in Sept 2017. My research focus is concerned with Scots Language, Literature and Scottish National Identity / Diaspora Studies within Scottish Education. More broadly I have research interests in 19th Century English Literature and the Dystopian Novel, Sociolinguistics / Socio-cultural Studies and National Identities / Diaspora Studies. I critically examine the myriad of socio-cultural underpinnings that construct and position Scots Language and Scottish National Identity in a politically shifting Scotland. I consider local and global socio-cultural phenomenon, ofttimes through the lens of social justice, by exploring their embodiment throughout word, text and artefact and within language, literature, art, heritage, cultural signs, symbols and mnemonic devices.
