Cyril Besson is senior lecturer at the Languages department of Université Grenoble – Alpes. A specialist of 19th-century Scottish literature, he has worked on the concept of nation and nationhood, the notion of authority and the different modes of “naturalisation” of the arbitrariness of social and cultural constructs. The editor in chief of the journal Scottish Studies/Etudes écossaises (ILCEA4, UGA) since 2017, he co-edited, with André Dodeman, the book Ville et environnement: regards croisés sur le monde postcolonial (Editions Michel Houdiard, 2014), and, with Pr. V. Molinari, the special issue of the online journal Representations (CEMRA, UGA) about “History and Political Discourse” as well as the book Using and Abusing Science: Science and Political Discourse from Burke’s ‘French Revolution’ to Obama’s Science Fair (Cambridge Scholars, 2016). He also wrote papers on science fiction in films and comic books.
